General questions
If your entry appears in our system but not on the map, then it is most likely because a specific location was not selected when making the entry.
A reason for an unpublished entry is most likely a missing location. Please always give give the location of your find or loss.
Somtimes the markings on the map disappear when zooming in. The most lekely reason is that the entries in question weren't marked at that specific area you selected. On a higher zoom-level, you will see all entries for the selected postal code region.
You were able to reach your local lost and found office, but your item couldn't be found? Then you should definitely search and make an entry on Have it Back! Public and private lost and found offices mostly only check the latest state. Again and again, you will have to contact the different venues and ask for the status of the day, ask the same questions and go through the same procedures. The chances are goo that you will find your item on Have it Back. Increase the chances of reclaiming your item even further by offering an individual finder's reward.
Have it Back displays entries that were directly transmitted by users as well as most of the freely accessible entries (headline and pursuing link to entry) of lost and found offices and topic pages.
After registering, you will have access to further option, which can positively effect your search. Among other things, you can directly edit your entry after having made it or chronologically list all of your entries, for example.

NO! Have it Back is free of use in its basic functions (searching, making an entry, matching, contacting finder or searcher, etc.) and an internationally operating internet portal and database. Only additional services such as the search agent or premium placements are with costs.
Everything that can be lost or was stolen from you. Even animals can be registered. Found items can of course also be submitted.

Immediatly go to your next police station and notify the authorities. Some police stations allow to file a case online. Afterwards, you should submit your search on Have it Back with the serial number of your valuable, in order to increase the chances of you getting it back.

Have it Back offers the public a clear structure and a multitude of freely accessible sources, such as lost and found websites and theft portals, but also entries submitted by users. If the etnry is from an external source, you will be relayed to the original source.
Yes. If you have registered, you can change your entry by clicking "own entries". Otherwise, please write an email from the address with which you submitted the entry.
In case your search gives you too many results, try narrowing down your search. Category and date help narrowing your down your target.
Have it Back has been tested in all current versions of Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer and supports these.
Sometimes the exact location of the loss or the find wasn't narrowed down. Then a "fixed" location to the according postal code is selected.
